Arts Community Service Program
Our Arts Community Service Program has been very busy. We have been collecting watches all year and sent 29 watches to the American Mural Project, a non-profit organization, to create the largest indoor collaborative artwork in the world. We spent an evening together playing Bunco for our general meeting in October. To have fun and to raise money for Unearth, a local event to celebrate the arts in the community. The Arts CSP supports with monetary donations and hands on time to various agencies and schools. This consists of Palmetto Place Children’s Emergency Shelter where the members treated 8 children and their chaperones to the State Museum and provided lunch as well as visiting the museum. They provided cash donations to four different elementary schools to purchase art supplies. We supported the local Workshop Theatre for their Capital Campaign fund. Money was donated to the Irmo Chapin Recreation Commission for scholarships for children in the Babcock Center for drama lessons. One of our members had a photography contest with the whole club participating by entering pictures for a Seasonal Calendar. All entries were on our website and all the members were encouraged to vote on their favorites. This same member designed the calendar and another member printed them out for us. As you can see we stay very busy in the world of Arts!
